Shane & Falguni Peacock

On a side note I have always wondered how Shane @ Falguni Peacock got their slightly OTT last name. (Come on it must have crossed your mind too right?) HHC ladies would you know? I mean how many “Peacocks” do you know personally? They even have a swanky website dedicated to high luxury prêt called Peacock Couture. Meanwhile a bird of a different feather is evidently out and about again. Anupama Verma broke out the animal print for the occassion, remiscent of Indian royalty engaged in their favorite pastime of Tiger hunting. I wonder if she’s trying to snag herself a prince! I’m still pretty impressed by her flawless performance on Big Boss, and apparently so was the unsuspecting Aryan Vaid!

Backstage with Shamita III

Day 1: backstage was abuzz bright and early. Shantanu & Nikhil and their gorgeous creations opened the week. Certain ‘so called’ stars were thrusted upon them but luckily for them Sameera Reddy didn’t fit into their outfit and Neha Uberoi was late~

But the brother duo were only too happy as their clothes didn’t need stars or even jewellery to complement them. Seriously, their clothes are celebrities in themselves. Their show started on time and this situation was the perfect example as to why we models are the only ones who should stick to the ramp. We’re professional, always on time, and fit into everything!

Priyanka Chopra

Meanwhile, a couple of girls who can actually be given due credit turned up on time for Narendra Kumar’s show. Priyanka Chopra and Mughda Godse. These girls have been models before and are even more familiar now with how the industry works as they’ve slipped into their characters for their film ‘Fashion’.

We joked, laughed and chatted backstage like one big family. Priyanka was ready on time and hung out with us, warm and friendly like she’s always been – that’s what I call being professional and humble.

Shane & Falguni Peacock

Shamita's Peacock Pick

The last show for Day 1 was Shane & Falguni Peacock. Their collection was true to the upcoming Spring/Summer trend – colourful and non-coordinated. Young, but with a hint of vintage style and very funky, perfect for ‘spendthrifts’.

Tired and hungry we all made our way to Olive for a big, big dinner. Who says models don’t eat?
