So I was organizing my thousands of pictures (no exaggeration) and I came across some fun ones from November last year. Yes, another Indigo brunch (where some fun face painting was going on courtesy Deepika Roy on buddies Rahul Akerkar and Anish Trivedi) followed by a paint party at Amitabh & Akanksha (the-most-beautiful-girl-in-the-world) Nanda’s house, much to their son Satya’s delight! I also heard an eerie story about how the occasional finger falls from the sky into their garden because they are situated next to the Parsi “Tower of Silence” in Walkeshwar, Mumbai. Eeks.) Kadambari was a good sport about letting her legs be used as an artist’s canvas along with Narendra Kumar and Nirja Shah who were in their usual good spirits. (I like people like that.)
Incidentally, Amitabh writes an extremely clever blog aptly titled www.whattothink.org (keeping indian media honest – since way before 2008) which features a variety of tirades against “the rising vapidity of our society – portrayed in the pop culture barometer of its advertising and mass communication” and encourages submissions from readers to firstname.lastname@example.org. Love it.
Models with John Marcheschi
Last night Gc (Guess Collection) Watches launched in India at a smokey soiree over cocktails and casino chips. The real shocker of course was that Mumbai’s well-heeled showed up for an 8:30pm event at 9:30pm! This, I’m guessing (pardon the pun) must be some kind of Fashion Week hangover where the fashionably late missed most of the fashion. But anyway, today’s party trend is to get a social butterfly to play host for you which Anish Trivedi (sans Cigar since the smoking ban) did with elan at the Trident Hotel Regal Room. (That’s the hotel previously-known-as-the-Hilton-formerly-known-as-the-Oberoi) while everyone bounced to the beat of DJ Megha Kawale.
Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Nina Manuel
Among the first few to arrive were Dolly Thakore, Krsna Mehta, Vijay Kalantri and Rashmi Uday Singh followed by Kim Sharma, Narendra Kumar Ahmed (revealing that he needed to go hat shopping), Kadambari, Monica Vazirali, Esther & Raju Daswani, Lubna Adams, Naaz & Remu Zaveri (who seemed to be on a roll at the blackjack table), Ganesh Hegde, Chaya Momaya and Ashish Raheja with his new foreign flame.
At some point 12 Brazilian models sashayed through the crowd and I can safely say the watches adorned on their black-gloved hands were not what everyone was staring at.
Lisa Haydon and Karan Bhoj
The desi model brigade trooped in later including Kelly Dorjee, Carol Gracias, Mashoom Singha, Nina Manuel (with her after hours camera crew), and Lisa Haydon with DJ-boyfriend Karan Bhoj (psst He’s Nina Manuel’s ex – good thing the Joker was MIA!)
We all have our favourite thing to do when it rains, have you ever wondered how the glitterati like to pass the time when it pours?
Raveena Tandon: Take a long drive, enjoy songs on romance and the rain, have hot coffee and bhutta, drive out to the countryside and enjoy the rare greenery…
Chetan Hansraj: Enjoy a nice cup of hot tea with steaming hot bhajiyas with fried green chillis. It goes perfect with the rain!
Arshiya Eappan: sit at home snuggled under a comforter and watch a good movie with Rij. If I’m fortunate enough and have time off I’d love to go to my house in khandala and enjoy the rain there.
Archana Puran Singh: Walk on the mall road back home in Mussoorie, or on the beach in Madh island (my home in Mumbai.) Earlier I would go for a drive but after environmental awareness and to curtail my carbon footprint drives have been replaced by walks!
Shveta Salve: Sit by a quaint little café with a really nice book or just go for a swim!
Yudhistir Urs: Go for a run in the rain and sit by some seaside place watching the ocean go mad. It would also help if I had some good company once in a while.
Milind Soman: Run in the rain at night, sit on the beach and watch the sea or else trekking in the Sahyadris.
Simone Singh: (If work schedules permit) Fahad and I like to escape to Goa in the rains. It’s a much more enjoyable experience outside the city.
Sunita Rao: Sing.
Nikhil Chinapa: drink adrak chai and watch movies! And if I can manage it adrak chai in Goa, that’s exactly what I’m doing right now.
Anish Trivedi: Listen to jazz. Smoke a cigar. Drink an old whisky.
Tupur Chaterjee: Sit at home, relax, drink tea and feel the rain mist on my face. I really love the smell of rain soaked soil.
