Some people have all the luck. I mean imagine flying to Macau to cover the IIFA Awards as part of your job! (I guess I shouldn’t complain my life is pretty awesome too but still. Macau!) So my Twitter buddy @ankitv (who describes himself as a mortal/non-chronological creature/TV presenter/dreamer/adrenaline junkie/wildlife enthusiast/amateur photographer/storyteller and is an anchor and correspondent for CNBC TV18) has very kindly let me hijack photos from his Facebook to share with you. Check it out!
P.S. Who wants to tell Aishwariya that she may have gone a tad overboard on the make up? And I lovelovelove Lara new haircut, she looks absolutely fab and pixie like. Must be love eh Dino?

Suchitra Pillai had quite the celebrity turn out and they all seemed pretty jazzed to watch her sing! As you know by now I’m quite the fan of Daddy’s Windsong Wednesday’s at il terrazzo (above del italia in Juhu, Mumbai.) Spotted grooving: Sushmita Sen, Gaurav Kapoor, Sandeep Chowta, Carol Gracias, Anaida, Shibani Kashyup (love her to bits but what is she wearing? She looks like a table cloth! HCC thoughts?) and Anushka Manchanda. Her up coming album is entitled Such is Life (which also works out as Suchi’s Life, cute eh?)
P.S. Lillet Dubey is directing Mahesh Datanni’s long-running production “Dance Like a Man” over supper theatre at Blue Frog this Sunday, the prime cast includes Vijay Crishna, Joy Sengupta and Suchitra Pillai.
Psst, tomorrow I’m going to get a sneak preview of the next crop of wannabe Miss India’s at Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai. Watch this space for pictures of the new PYT’s and Bollywood’s generation next.
Flashback to 1966: Reita Faria, a young medical student from Mumbai, created history by becoming the first Indian to be crowned Miss World. However, it took almost twenty-six years for another Indian to win at an international beauty pageant. The turning point for the Femina Miss India pageant was when Madhu Sapre was selected the second runner-up at the Miss Universe contest in 1992. After she almost missed the Miss Universe crown that year, a lot more planning was put into the competition. And so began the complex industry of “How to be a Miss India 101.”
Miss India 2007: Pooja Chitkopekar, Sarah Jane Dias and Puja Gupta
Evidently it works. In 1994, we witnessed the twin triumphs of Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai, who were crowned Miss Universe and Miss World, respectively. Since then, there have been an array of winsome beauties from India winning international titles: Diana Hayden, Miss World 1997, Yukta Mookhey, Miss World 1999, Lara Dutta, Miss Universe 2000, Priyanka Chopra, Miss World 2000, and Diya Mirza, who scored a hat-trick for India, by winning the Miss Asia-Pacific 2000 title.
What do all these ladies have in common (apart from the short-lived desire for world peace and ending poverty for the duration of the pageant) is the fact that every single one has made a B line for Bollywood (hey maybe that’s why they call it a “B” line.)
